Why did I wait so long to read the PREP SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL series? I already had a severe reader crush on Kara Thomas, eagerly awaiting each new release. I shouldn’t have waited so long to read Kara Taylor’s (same person, only name) series.

The severely rule-challenged Anne Dowling is back weeks after solving her roommate’s murder. She’s dating Brent, crushing on Anthony and seeing parallels to Isabelle’s murder, is determined to solve the decades old mysterious disappearance of student Matt Weaver. Weaver’s presumes death apparently has ties to fathers of current students and the crew coach.

Taylor, as always, leaves no little detail to chance. WICKED LITTLE SECRETS requires a bit of belief suspension, which I was more than willing to do for badass Anne. She’s still speaking before thinking, not always sensitive and not-headed, but her heart has empathy even for the jerks in her class.

Anne’s romance with Brent didn’t do much for me. I liked Anthony, but wasn’t certain they had chemistry. Though she showed no interest for Cole, I thought they might make an interesting couple.

WICKED LITTLE SECRETS ends with a HUGE cliffhanger that I can’t wait to solve in book three.

I really enjoyed the first novel and had high hopes for the continuation of this series, with that said on its face this is a very good book. It is fast moving, intriguing and very suspenseful but when you are in the genre of mystery the little things can be your down fall.
Some problems I saw with this book had greatly to do with poor editing. I have noticed several typos and grammatical errors which are normal in any book, my real issues are with the research and plot problems that should have been picked up in the editing phase of this book. An example of a research issue I found in this book is the author's and her editors belief that men are born with two X chromosomes (FYI they are not) that may seem simple to overlook but for people like me it takes away from the experience. The next issue has to do with plot, in particular with Anne's broken cell phone, one minute she is in the park and complaining about needing a working phone and then she travels back to campus straight from the park and suddenly she has a working phone again, there was no indication that she had received her new phone so I can only see this as a problem with an editor not picking up this error.
I think that more time is needed to make these books more polished but over all they are very entertaining.
I thought the first book was good, but this book is ten times better. It was great from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down. Anne is a great character that has a lot of guts and smarts. Reading this book makes me even more excited for the next book, wicked little secrets. I can't wait!!!!!!
I know it's a bit unrealistic. But hey it's fiction and I LIKE it. LOL It's a bit annoying with all the secrets. Some events could have been avoided but actually all that happened felt like it followed a true course. I'm excited for the next book. )
WOW. Those last 50 pages were incredible! And that last sentence!!! The last half in general was fantastic. It took me awhile to get into the story in the beginning- I read the first book last year and the characters definitely weren't fresh in my head. So many of them too! But once I got the hang of it, Anne's mystery took over and it was just as brilliant and exciting as Prep School Confidential. Anne really is like a grown up Nancy Drew and it's awesome- she's brash, she's a little impulsive, and not always good to her friends, but her heart is in the right place. In essence, she's a teenager. And I have to say, I don't see the Anthony attraction at all. Not really into that, I like Brent better. But it's the mystery of Matt Weaver that's front and center and it's pretty brilliant. Can't wait to see how all the threads wrap up in Deadly Little Sins.
In this book, the story revolves around a thirty year old cold case. What Anne finds as she searches for what really happened to Matthew are disturbing secrets that put her in greater danger than her first case. She’s not just dealing with the school, she’s also investigating a politician, a lawyer, and wealthy business men that had once attended the school. What she finds, disheartens her because it seems that Brent’s father is part of whatever happened to Matthew, and not just Matthew, but another person that disappeared during that time. Double murder? What was really going on with that close group of friends? While this is happening, she’s also having to deal with Brent’s way of reacting when she finds out that he’s part of a ritual, which he knows might have caused the death of Matthew that night long ago. A lot of serious, gritty issues were raised in this book, and I was like whoa, even though this group of friends came from the best schools and families, they were totally messed up, and in many different ways. Yikes!

Also, in this story, even though Anne was good at finding the clues pertaining to the case (I liked the way she did not back down, even when many people told her to stop. Even Brent. Come on Brent! ), the way she acted with both Anthony and Brent when it came to their feelings was sometimes a little bit awkward. She even told the guys, she had feelings for both (I was like, oh noooo…, couldn’t she had kept those unresolved feelings until she knew for sure. I’m still rooting for Anthony, but I have a feeling it might not end up that way...). Overall, though, Wicked Little Secrets, was a good read with its more complex mystery because Anne was not dealing with just a murder, it was also a cold case with many, many unanswered questions.
